A new year... a new start

So I realize that my last post was 9 months ago, and it was an update on my wedding and honeymoon which were now just over a year ago! Man time flies. You would think since I write marketing blog pieces for companies as a side job just for fun that I'd be better at updating my own blog and being somewhat interesting, yet I fail.

Instead of trying to recap the past 9 months, I am going to start with the present and move forward hopefully on a more regular basis.

Pablo is finally in his last year of college!! Yay, only those of you who know me well will understand how incredibly happy and excited I finally am. Dare I say that I might even be somewhere warm next Winter?!? He is currently in the process of applying for internships for the summer months that *fingers crossed* hopefully will turn into a full-time job in December when he graduates. Aside from that, he still works part-time at Chase bank and is a great husband. On a side note, I am trying to get him to eat healthier which is a never ending battle, but hey, a girl has got to try. Also, he enjoys playing with our new toy we got for Christmas from my parents. A beautiful flat screen TV that he loves to watch Prison Break on once I go to bed. He says he does homework... but I think we all know what he really does!

I actually have something fun and exciting to write about. Finally, after graduating college 3 1/2 years ago I have finally found my niche in the job market. I began working at a residential treatment center for teenage boys ages 12-17 back at the beginning of November and I LOVE it!! Seriously, so bummed I didn't tap into this 3 1/2 years ago, oh well, you live and you learn. Every day I deal with some of the greatest people both co-workers and teenage boys alike. Sure they are at the center for some serious problems but I can't help but treat them like my younger brothers. It is so great to see their progress. I am in my element because I am the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Academic Director, or Vice Principal whatever your pick. I've been called all of the above. So not only do I get to interact with great people, it is all academic related. I know I'm nerdy. As a side note, I am continuing with my healthy eating and exercising every day. Found out over Christmas that I have some food allergies so getting used to not being able to eat quesadillas has been hard, but we're hanging in there. On my spare time I enjoy writing marketing pieces and napping.

So in a nutshell things are pretty good for us right now (aside from the fact it is so balmy out during this dead of Winter). Just continuing onward and upward in this lovely thing called life and being an adult. Speaking of being an adult, I cannot believe that I will be turning 25 this year! This is crazy.

Updates from the past year

So I realize I am a horrible blogger, seeing that my last post was nearly a year ago. So I've avowed to become better perhaps I'll blog monthly now or something that seems about reasonable. Anyways a lot has happened since we got engaged last May.

Can I just say planning a wedding was probably one of the best things ever! I had so much fun with my mother who is my best friend (aside from my husband of course). We really were able to plan a very nice wedding and I am so grateful for my parents and all they did for us! They are the best. So after 7 months we finally got married on December 17th! It was a perfect day, not only did I marry my best friend, but it didn't rain in Seattle!! That is a miracle in and of itself!

The next day we got on a plane and flew to Maui for a much needed vacation and more importantly our honeymoon!! We had a great week soaking in the sun, eating fresh pineapple (well mainly me), and just enjoying being married of course! It was so nice to get away from reality and really focus on each other and spend good quality time with one another.

Since I am a very traditional girl, I insisted we come home in time for Christmas because I can't miss Christmas morning with my family. We spent Christmas Eve with Pablo's parents and then drove to my house to surprise my brother who thought he'd be all alone on Christmas morning. He was so excited! The three of us had a sleepover in the man cave and waited for Santa! It was really fun sharing my first Christmas with Pablo and my family. He fits in so well with us, I can't wait for him and Jameson to meet!!

After spending two more days at home, we finally came back to Utah to begin life again so to speak. Pablo started school and work. He is studying Finance at Utah Valley University and works part-time for Chase bank as well. I've been working for an independent financial planner for just about 6 months now and recently got promoted to office manager status. I am even learning accounting! Go me!

Not much is new or exciting with us currently. Just going about the daily grind. We can't wait for Pablo to finish school next year so we can move on to the next chapter in life and see what new adventures await. But in the meantime we do find time to get out and have some fun while we are still here in lovely happy valley.

There's a reason why Friday is my favorite day of the week

It's Friday morning and I'm thinking it's just another normal morning. I am sleeping in, and all the sudden my bedroom door opens, and I sleepily roll over, and see my boyfriend walk in. I am totally confused but super happy as he hands me a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and says good morning. I'm all like what are you doing, and he was all we've had a good week, so i thought i'd make you breakfast in bed to end a good week and jumpstart another good one. I thought it was super cute! First we had both our favorite fresh fruit, pineapple and strawberries. Let me just say, so yummy! Then he was all I made some french toast too. I was majorly impressed to say the least. After we finished the french toast, he was all there's one more thing, some drink that I read is supposed to be good to drink after you eat french toast. I was of course a bit skeptical, but waited patiently in bed as he went to get it. He comes in with two plates that were covered. He told me to sit up, close my eyes and hold one of the plates. He then goes on to explain how much I mean to him, using analogies of the different foods we ate and the gospel. I start to tear up a little as i realize what might be happening. After a few minutes, he tells me to open my eyes and he pulls the cover off the plate. I start crying as I see a ring box and gorgeous flowers. He then looks at me and asks me if i'll marry him, I of course say yes, and continue to cry!!! It was a perfect moment. Remembering the drink, I ask what about that drink, and he hands me a mug and i drink it, and i'm like water? He is all to help you calm down! Now i can't stop smiling or looking at my very sparkly ring :)

Best Valentines Day Ever!!!

Valentines Day this year was fantastic!! I leave work to find my car decorated by my cute boyfriend! Then when I walk into my condo, there is a trail of roses and candy leading to my bedroom, where I find a giant teddy bear more flowers and candy! He gave me a super sweet card which makes hilarious kissing noises when you open it. For dinner we went to a dinner theater at Old Spaghetti Factory!! It was so much fun!! They did Romeo and Juliet... the perfect Valentines!! I love my boyfriend SO much!! He is perfect for me, and knows how to completely spoil me!! I am so lucky.

Two Month Anniversary

So let me just start by saying I have the greatest boyfriend! Yesterday was our two month anniversary and he totally surprised me. I come home from work to find a star-shaped sticky note on my door that says "reasons why I love Lauren Gardner" ... I open my door and there's a super cute blanket covering my bed, a heart shaped pillow, and reese's peanut butter cups. THEN all over my room he has placed the little star sticky notes with reasons why he loves me! Later when he came over after studying, he brought me two beautiful roses and made me my favorite food for dinner, chicken quesadillas!! Now before you laugh, he legitly marinated the chicken, had fresh tortillas and tortilla chips, and made homemade guacamole... plus chocolate dipped strawberries!!

Think I've found myself a keeper?? HECK YES!!!
